A new play area at East Towne Mall will have its grand opening Friday, followed by family-friendly activities all weekend.
The Play and Learn area was custom-designed by East Towne Mall and the United Way and is sponsored by Kraft/Oscar Mayer. Besides a traditional play area, which is also new to the mall, the Play and Learn site will feature educational sessions monthly and developmental screenings. Oscar Mayer, which is owned by Kraft Foods, gave $28,000 to the project.
Kraft spokeswoman Syd Lindner said the project was an extension of the company’s commitment to fighting hunger and promoting healthy lifestyles.
Events begin at noon Friday, with the ribbon-cutting at 1 p.m. Events begin at 11 a.m. on Saturday and Sunday.
The new play area is near J.C. Penney.
