There is something so natural and rewarding about picking your own food with your kids! We took our family out to Lutz Family Farm yesterday afternoon to pick some lovely Wisconsin Strawberries before the season comes to a close (a lot of farms have already ended their you pick strawberry season). We loved that they have extended hours (they offered pick your own until 8pm last night!) and reasonable prices at $1.35/lb. If you were hoping to take the kids out for some good old wisconsin strawberry harvesting, now is the time, and maybe Lutz Family Farm is the place! A true family farm, Dad was super friendly and helpful and invited us back for their delicious sweet corn, available later this summer.
Things to know if you are visiting:
– Call ahead or check their website to be sure they have strawberries available (this seems to be true of all the pick-your-own farms)
-If your kiddo isn’t an all-terrain walker yet, bring a carrier. The narrow and bumpy aisles between the rows of strawberry plants are hard to walk and definitely not stroller friendly, but I picked strawberries easily with my 8 month old in a carrier for a while.
Lutz Family Farm is located at 1477 County Road T in Marshall and has varying hours, which can be found by calling (608) 655-3664 or visiting http://www.lutzfamilyfarm.com
